Greta and Tom

This particular collaboration is looking to be very interesting. Greta is a photography artist who works with conceptual ideas that comment on society, reality and perception. I have always been inspired by her style and I have even modelled for previous projects of hers. She is my flatmate which has made it easy to communicate and develop ideas together on my own project. This also meant I was able to make her one of the artists to focus on and document the development of her artwork. When talking to Greta about her creative process she explains that she use to create self portrait art. She would prepare for a photo shoot by creating a look for herself and changing her own appearance until she could no longer recognise herself, at this time she didn't use Photoshop a lot either. She continued to explain that over time her process changed, she now uses models, photo shoots take place in a studio and she frequently uses Photoshop. The outcome of these changes has been well received and has resulted in higher quality pieces. However, she states that there has been some challenges to face, one being communication. what before was a solitary experience is now collaborative, she had to learn to be able to convey her thoughts and ideas to the model through a different kind of language which also changes between each different model.

The piece she is working on is inspired by fnuf's song 'little boxy'. She explains that she knows the idea behind the song though she felt strong religious connotations from it and her piece is a comment on the relation between technology and religion.

Tom aka Fnuf is a musician who takes his inspirations from the overgrowing scene in Scotland and around the world. These inspirations come from the joys and struggles of everyday life and the beauty and ugliness of it all. He is involved in many areas of music, beat-boxing, guitar, trumpet, music production and much more. His self title album "fnuf" which is an uplifting collection of songs an beats with a desire to spread positive, fun and healing vibes. He explains that his creative process is always changing and that ideas and inspirations spark from anywhere. The song chosen for this project "Little Boxy" is actually about his electricity meter. He recounts a time when the meter needed topped up. In his house, he explained, it is situated in a tight cupboard that is filled with a bunch of cardboard boxes and when he inserts the meter key it comes up with a screen that simply says 'please wait'. At that moment he is up against the boxes and it is quite uncomfortable for him and while waiting he says it feels like time is suspended in that cupboard for that time and it is own unique experience that belongs to that place. He wanted to create something and capture that moment in time.
